Running a business is also running employees. A business is as good as productive employees. The fortunes of a business are dictated by the number of hours of productive work employees put it. Non-productive employees pose a problem to the organization. Firstly, they indulge in wastage of resource time, and secondly they may waste others time as well.

So how do you make an employee more productive without ruffling feathers? Here’s how.

Ask the employee to come with a plan of work on a weekly basis

By doing this, you are getting the employee to think work, work, and work all the time. Unless asked, employees will not remember what they are supposed to do, and what they can do to add value to the organization.

Make the employee do various career-benefiting jobs

An employee might be frog-welled in a particular job without any improvement plans in place. You could suggest a career road-map to the employee. When the employee does not have significant work, these career-benefiting jobs can be taken up.
You can also involve the employee in other activities that benefit the organization. You can ask the employee to train and develop new joiners.

Make the workplace more energetic

Have a free and open culture at the workplace. Encourage freedom of speech and action. Ask people to mingle more during free hours.

Give responsibility and reward

By giving more responsibility and rewarding them for jobs well done, employees will be encouraged to spend more quality time at the workplace. By giving responsibility on an employee, a company shows confidence in that employee. Which is not a bad thing.
